Scottie Barnes Achieves Historic Feat: A Raptors Record-Breaking Performance!
On December 29, 2025, Toronto Raptors' Scottie Barnes delivered an unforgettable performance, etching his name in the team's history books. He not only scored 23 points but also matched a franchise record with an astounding 25 rebounds, while adding 10 assists, securing his seventh career triple-double. This incredible display led the Raptors to a thrilling 141-127 overtime victory against the Golden State Warriors.
Immanuel Quickley contributed 27 points, Brandon Ingram scored 26, and Ja'Kobe Walter added a season-high 18 points for the Raptors, breaking their five-game home losing streak. The Warriors, despite Stephen Curry's impressive 39 points, including 14 in the third quarter, and contributions from Draymond Green (21 points) and Jimmy Butler (19 points), couldn't overcome Toronto's dominant performance.
But here's where it gets controversial... Barnes equaled Bismack Biyombo's 2016 record for rebounds in a single game. This triple-double was also Barnes' first of the season, showcasing his all-around skills.
This achievement places Barnes in an elite group. He joined Nikola Jokic of Denver (December 18, 2022) as one of only two players in the last 40 years to record at least 20 points, 25 rebounds, and 10 assists in a game. Furthermore, at 24 years and 149 days old, Barnes became the youngest player to accomplish this since Maurice Stokes in November 1957 (24 years, 144 days).
Barnes' dominance extended to the offensive boards, as he tied Chris Bosh, Chris Boucher, Antonio Davis, and Amir Johnson for the most offensive rebounds in franchise history, with three career games with nine offensive rebounds.
And this is the part most people miss...
Raptors forward RJ Barrett returned from a 15-game absence, scoring 12 points in 24 minutes. Toronto capitalized on 21 Golden State turnovers, scoring 35 points off them – the most by a Warriors opponent this season. The Raptors also showed resilience, winning for the third time this season after trailing after three quarters. They forced overtime by outscoring the Warriors 9-2 in the final 1:32 of regulation.
Brandin Podziemski scored 13 points and Will Richard added 10 for Golden State, as they fell to 6-12 on the road. Sandro Mamukelashvili scored 13 points for Toronto, and Ochai Agbaji had 10, with a total of seven players reaching double figures.
The Raptors achieved this victory without center Jakob Poeltl (lower back), who missed his fifth game in six appearances.
