Startling news: Omni One VR treadmill is expanding beyond PC VR by joining Meta’s Made for Meta program, paving the way for official Quest compatibility.
What this means: Made for Meta certifies accessories that not only work with Meta devices but also meet Meta’s quality standards. Since its 2023 inception, the program has certified a wide array of accessories, including the bHaptics TactSuit Pro, Logitech MX Link stylus, and Roto VR Explorer Chair.
Impact for Omni One: As a new member, Virtuix aims to enable Quest headset and game compatibility with the Omni One, effectively broadening the treadmill’s potential reach to the vast Quest user base—the largest segment in XR today.
What’s official, what isn’t: Quest support will mark Omni One’s first official compatibility with Meta’s ecosystem. Previously, the treadmill supported PC VR headsets via its Core system (priced at $2,600) and a custom Pico 4 Enterprise Ultra headset through its Complete package (priced at $3,500).
CEO’s perspective: Jan Goetgeluk, Virtuix CEO, said, “Joining the Made for Meta program expands our addressable market to millions of active Quest users who already own and love their VR headset and games library. We look forward to collaborating with Meta as we continue to scale our consumer business and bring our immersive, full-body gaming experience to a mass audience.”
Road to VR details: In an interview, Goetgeluk noted that Omni One won’t support every Quest game, but a large portion will be compatible. The plan includes tight integration with the Omni One SDK, with more information on product and compatibility to come later.
Context: This development follows Virtuix’s recent Nasdaq listing on the Global Market tier and a fresh round of funding, including an $11 million investment from Chicago Venture Partners and a $50 million equity line of credit. The company says the funds will accelerate Omni One sales and growth as it scales its presence in consumer markets.
