There are all kinds of ways to explain how responsible or not an anime character is, such as how good they are with money. Whether or not anime characters think a lot about finances and good spending habits, it's usually easy to tell who would be smart with their hard-earned money and who would blow it all in an afternoon. Being financially responsible is often connected to whether a character has good impulse control and a long-term view of their lives.
An anime character can probably be trusted with money for a few reasons, such as if they're smart and practical in general, or if poverty has forced them to appreciate the true value of money. Such characters would definitely earn an allowance and make the most of it, while other anime characters would go wild with any cash given to them and fail to save up money for an emergency. It's a fun way to sort the responsible anime characters from those who treat everything like a game.

2 Anime Characters Who Can Be Trusted With Money
Tohru Honda Has Been Saving Up to Afford Her Own Place
At times, Fruits Basket can be surprisingly dark as a shojo anime, but there's nothing dark about Tohru's can-do spirit. Even at her lowest point, after losing her home and ending up as an orphan in a tent, Tohru was determined to patiently build a better life for herself. She accomplished step 1, getting a job, and step 2 is to save up enough to get her own place.
Such a responsible work ethic makes it wonderfully clear how smart Tohru is with money, and she knows better than to spend a single yen she doesn't have to. No matter Tohru's goofy and airheaded ways at school, she's a grounded, practical teenage girl who knows how to look after herself. Losing her parents forced her to grow up quickly, and Tohru took it all in stride, from cooking and studying to saving money.

Loid's financial literacy is mostly implied in the anime, from his lack of overdue bills to his constant advice to Anya to be more responsible in her daily life. It also helps that Loid has so few temptations to blow his money on nonsense anyway, since he doesn't have much of a personal life anyhow. He did spend a lot of cash on goofy souvenirs aboard a cruise ship, but that was an exception for comedy's sake.

Naofumi Iwatani Knows How to Make Do With Less
Sometimes, even isekai protagonists have to take money into account when navigating a fantasy world. Such is the case for Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising of the Shield Hero, because even the Cardinal Heroes are expected to buy goods and services with coins. That's why the king granted the Heroes so much money as compensation for their work in saving the kingdom from the Waves.
Once Naofumi was ostracized as the "Shield Devil," he had limited funds, forcing him to be smart about his finances. He only took on jobs that paid well and always demanded full payment, even from villagers who had little to spare. Naofumi didn't have much wiggle room with his savings and there was a lot at stake, so he soon became smart and wise with his money.

Ichika Nakano Supported Her Sisters When They Moved Out of Their Father's Apartment
While the five Nakano sisters aren't so good at studying, the eldest sister Ichika is smart about money and real-life responsibilities, which reinforces her image as the responsible big sister among the quintuplets. That fact was made clear in Season 2 of The Quintessential Quintuplets, when the sisters moved out of their father's apartment and lived on their own.
It fell to Ichika to support the sisters with her work as an actress, which she took quite seriously. Money was always tight, but Ichika kept the lights on and kept everyone fed, all while studying hard to boost her poor grades at school. All that both impressed and worried Futaro, who knew a thing or two about people pushing themslves too hard. Eventually, Ichika lightened her financial burden by asking her sisters to find jobs and contribute to the rent, too.

Ochaco Uraraka Knows the Value of Money From Poverty
While it doesn't always happen, living in poverty or getting by paycheck to paycheck may often lead a real or fictional person to be smart about money, since they can't take it for granted. Ochaco Uraraka in My Hero Academia is like that, being painfully aware of how hard her parents pushed themselves to keep a roof over her head.

1 Anime Characters Who Can't Be Trusted With Money
Inosuke Hashibira is Reckless and Goes by Instinct
Inosuke Hashibra from Demon Slayer is one of many anime characters who would be irresponsible with money simply because he doesn't know how it works. He grew up in the wilds with animals like boars for friends, living off the land and listening to his instincts. That made Inosuke a great fighter with his Beast Breathing style, but it doesn't make him good with money, bills, or rent.
Inosuke is unfamiliar with modern civilization, even in simpler times like the 1910s, so he couldn't be trusted to handle a household's finances. He probably can't perform basic math, and even if he could, Inosuke would likely go wild with money and buy food, weapons, and entertainment without a second thought to the increasingly overdue bills piling up on his kitchen table.

Aqua Spends Way Too Much on Booze Every Night
Konosuba is a subversive comedy anime where financial woes are a constant bummer for the main characters, mostly Kazuma Sato and his three friends. For humor's sake, and to make them more relatable, those characters struggle to keep their bank account afloat, and it doesn't help that Aqua keeps drinking her money away and barfing it back up in the alley every night.
Since Aqua is a naturally selfish and impulsive deity, and because she's not used to mortal civilization, Aqua isn't used to managing a budget. On her own, she would soon end up desperately broke and scramble for drinking money with various jobs, and even with Kazuma around, things aren't much better. It's a good thing the heroes often catch as break, such as when they were given a mansion to live in.

Nokotan Would Blow Her Allowance on Deer Crackers
The topic of money doesn't often come up in My Deer Friend Nokotan, but all the same, it's easy to see which members of the Deer Club can be trusted with money and which should stay far away from the club's treasury. Torako Koshi is an ex-delinquent who has a good head on her shoulders, while her deer friend Nokotan is a whirlwind of whimsy and nonsense.

10 Anime Characters Who Are Just Misunderstood
While some anime characters are pretty straightforward, others like Shoko Komi and Coyote Starrk are just misunderstood.
Nokotan is highly impuslive and rarely puts much thought into anything, instead thinking about how to amuse herself or get deer crackers for every meal. There is no doubt that she would go wild with any allowance given to her and blow it all on deer crackers, and she's too airheaded to focus on rent and bills if she were ever burdened with such responsibilities.

Son Goku Wasn't Taught Financial Literacy
Not unlike Inosuke Hashibra, Son Goku from Dragon Ball Z is a wild hero who's usually on the outside of civilization looking in. Goku does know how to live in a house and has become roughly familiar with technology like cars, but advanced concepts like savings, taxes, and voting are beyond him. Such things are too far removed from his true love of training and fighting worthy enemies.
So, it evidently falls to Goku's wife Chi-Chi to run their wacky household, making sure Gohan goes to school and keeping the checkbook balanced. She even makes multiple references in Dragon Ball Super and Sparking Zero about how he needs to get a job. It's another example of how, for all his power, Goku still needs people to look after him and keep his life running smoothly while he fixates on combat above all else.

Dragon Ball Z
An anime that spans across many generations, this is the sequel to Dragon Ball from 1986. Dragon Ball Z is an anime that everyone must know of, whether it's the name itself, Goku, or the Saiyans - Dragon Ball Z is one of the greatest anime to have ever been produced. Produced by Toei Animation and written by Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball Z continues the adventures of Goku, who, along with his companions made in the prequel series, defend the Earth against villains ranging from aliens like Frieza, androids like Cell, and magical creatures like Majin Buu. While the original anime followed Goku from childhood to early adulthood and had its fun moments, Dragon Ball Z is a continuation of his adult life in this hard-action anime, but at the same time parallels the life of his son, Gohan, as well as the development of his rival Vegeta. While there have been sequel series produced afterwards like Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super, Z is the core of the entire Dragon Ball universe that has a recognition like no other anime on this list. With over 150 episodes, the series has some of the most unique scenes in anime ever made, such as Goku’s transformation to becoming a Super Saiyan and the Cell Games. If you’re into anime and haven’t watched Dragon Ball Z, we won’t judge. However, if you’re just starting, this is an anime that must be seen if you enjoy some fast-paced action, even if some fight scenes last about three to four episodes at a time. It’s gripping, entertaining, and heartbreaking all at the same time, and you wish you could be a Saiyan like Goku and his friends too.

Power Hardly Even Knows What Money Is
There are hints that Denji in Chainsaw Man has some basic financial literacy, such as keeping a log of his father's massive debt, but his fiend companion, Power, is a different matter. She is a devil living in a human girl's body, a wild creature who cares nothing for finances, bills, or education. She seems to have only a vague notion of what money even is or why it's important.
If someone like Aki or Himeno taught Power how money works and gave her an allowance, Power would almost definitely run off to recklessly spend that money on fun things. She would do anything from gamble for fun to buy hunks of meat from the butcher shop to devour or the like. Power also seems unable to think long-term, so saving money is beyond the grasp of this impatient fiend.
